TD8E steering issue

 · The original subject was "Re: TD8E steering issue". Hello, I'm reading this old topic hoping to find a fix to my issue. Sounds like JM is just the guy I need. I have an early 80's international td7e powershift. I've owned it for almost two years and am new to dozers as of then. This dozer has worked perfectly until yesterday.

TD7E Brake Adjustment Issue

 · Its not the brake pedal adjustment I'm looking for its the rod that adjusts the brakes for steering from the rear of the machine with the 7/8 rod/bolt and 1 3/4" jam nut. I took off the side plate and it somehow runs through a rectangular box down to a bolt that pushes the shoe and makes the adjustment.

 · I owned in 91 a 125c and currently have a TD-8e I have owned since late 91 also which is the same as your machine except a dozer version. I have pulled and rebuilt the trans about 15 years ago. Parts were plentiful then compared to now. The dipstick under the seat is for the rear frame which house the brake and steering clutches.

 · What is the procedure for adjusting the clutches on a TD8e? I understand there is an internal adjustment as well as the brake adjustment behind the sprocket. I am putting new brakes on the machine and wondering if I needed to adjust the clutches while I am in the mainframe. The clutches look OK and released OK but the brakes were completely.

TD8E Steering Adjustment

Re: TD8E Steering Adjustment in reply to granite, 03-28- 09:28:46 If you have to keep adjusting the right brake it is possible the brake lining is breaking up causing constant adjustment or you always work off of the right side and use the brake to steer instead of just releasing the clutch and let the load on the blade help you steer.

 · They have a wet clutch and brake but eventually they will give you trouble and you have to replace. The key is to replace the pads before they bet to be metal on metal. That however is hard to do because the external adjustment you think to yourself I have one more adjustment left, oh maybe one more time, or whel I really need it so I will.

 · This is where brake adjust screw and lock nut is. Probably under 2" of caked dirt like in the pic. It's right at the tip of the arrow in that little recess. To adjust brake first loosen all the foot brake pedal linkage so that it is not an influence. Then loosen lock nut on adjusting screw. Clean up the screw threads so it turns easy/smooth.

 · Sorry for some confusion Red. Yes, the steering brakes are tight and work well but the pedal is out of adjustment.I can engage both brakes via the turning levers and still the driveline turns. Here are some pics of my pressure readings since I don't have a numbered gauge. This is full RPM in neutral. This is full RPM in any of the six gears.
